Navy pilot and Chatham Historical Society Archivist
The first non-stop trans-atlantic flight took off from the Chatham Naval Air Station, and from 1917-1922 blimps and search planes sought out and engaged German U-boats off the lower cape. Our speaker Don Borderick, a U.S. Navy pilot and archivist at the Chatham Historical Society will tell the story of the naval base and its role patrolling and engaging German U-boats in WWI. He will also tell the story of the secret role Chatham and the Marconi Station played during WWI.
